Raised Voices meets on Thursday evenings 7.30–9.30pm at the Doreen Bazell Community Centre in Chenies Place (off Pancras Road), London NW1 1UG.
To find out more about joining the choir email Thea and Morag at or just come along to a rehearsal (but still check by Email to make sure that you find us in our usual spot).
New members are always welcome!
We take short breaks from rehearsals in the summer and the winter. Please contact us before coming to a rehearsal to make sure you find us there.
Q: Do I have to be an experienced singer?
A: You do not have to have previous choir experience; we do not hold auditions, and you will never be asked to sing on your own if you are not comfortable with it.
During your first four weeks, you can try how you get on with learning a part and holding a tune. If you need help with this, we might recommend evening classes, or offer you some one-to-one help.
Q: Would I have to pay a subscription?
A: The first four weeks are free for everyone, so you can decide whether you want to join.
We then have a sliding scale for subscription rates: the current fee is £28 per month but lower fees are acceptable for those unable to afford this. It is a principle of the choir that no one should be excluded because of cost.
The subscriptions are used to pay for the running of the choir, to rent rehearsal space, have a musical teacher, photocopies of music etc.
Q: What if I do not agree with all of the political views?
A: There is lots of opportunity to express views about the political content of songs and the events we choose to sing at. We respect a range of different views held by choir members.
